A Story of Healing: A Portrait of Venanthie Sabimana

After years of being a refugee from the Burundian Civil War, Venanthie Sabimana returned with her family to Bujumbura, only to have a hit squad come after her husband. Deeply traumatized, she withdrew from the world. Then she agreed to take part in a healing workshop, conducted by the Friends Women's Association in the Kamenge township, and was restored to life. An inspiration story of kindness, healing, and a community of women.

One of two short portraits of beneficiaries of the Friends Women’s Association of Burundi, in the Great Lakes Region of East Africa, from a trip in 2013. The second is of Felicité de la Chance.
